FaceliftAs the years pass, you may begin to notice signs of aging that cause you to appear older than you really are. If you would like to regain a more youthful facial appearance, you may be interested in undergoing facelift surgery. I perform this facial procedure at my Northern Virginia practice, Widder Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Center. Along with my caring and professional staff, I am dedicated to providing you with an enjoyable surgical experience.

Facelift Surgery

The facelift procedure is designed to help restore a younger-looking appearance. The facelift surgery (“rhytidectomy”) technique I perform is the MACS lift – Minimal Access Cranial Suspension. This entails incisions along the temporal hairline and along the sideburn area, continuing behind the cartilage of the ear. When using this technique, the scar blends in with the natural hairline to become almost invisible. Based on the amount of sagging present, two or three sutures are used to reposition the deeper layers of tissue to a more youthful position. Excess skin is then excised. Prior to surgery, it is important that you refrain from smoking approximately two weeks before the procedure and follow the diet sheet provided during your consultation. In addition, be sure to refrain from taking aspirin for two weeks before surgery.

Post-surgery, you will need to rest for approximately one week before returning to work. At about 10 days to two weeks, you will be “presentable” in that bruising and swelling will have decreased significantly. Exercise may be resumed in three weeks. Be sure to view before and after facelift photos to see examples of patient results.

Oftentimes, Washington, D.C. facelift patients combine upper and/or lower eyelid surgery for a more refreshed appearance. You may also be interested in liposuction of the neck to reduce the appearance of a “double chin.”
