Brazilian Butt Lifts. Are They Worth the Money?
Brazilian Butt Lifts in DC & VA Worth the Money?
What’s Involved in a Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure?
Brazilian butt lifts may be growing in popularity, but Dr. Widder of Widder Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery in Vienna, VA, wants you to understand the procedure, risks, and drawbacks. The rise in any procedure for increasing butt size has been linked to the Kardashian effect as well as other celebrities like Nicki Minaj and Jennifer, where they’re posting pictures of their backside on social media sites like Instagram. Now the rest of the world is motivated to follow suit where over the last couple of years, American women have developed a love affair with shapelier buttocks. No matter what celebrities may have helped this trend, if you’re looking at the different options available to you, we want you to be aware of the risks and complications of the Brazilian butt lift and why Dr. Widder ONLY performs Butt Implants and not BBL.
A Brazilian butt lift is portrayed as one of the best options for reshaping the derriere. Why is BBL gaining popularity? The procedure involves using your own fat to improve the size and shape of your buttocks. Brazilian butt lift surgery is performed on an outpatient basis under either general anesthesia or IV sedation with local anesthesia. The surgeon will begin by making small, inconspicuous incisions in the pre-selected area(s) from which fat is to be taken, often the abdomen, thighs, hips, or lower back. Reducing fat around your body and creating a more pleasing “framework” is what surgeons that perform BBL tout as a major positive to the procedure. Using a small specialized tube called a cannula, your surgeon will use liposuction techniques on areas where you have excess fat to remove. This is a particularly desirable procedure for many people because liposuction means that other parts of the body, such as the back, hips, or thighs, can be toned at the same time as the butt is enhanced. You have to have enough excess fat available as only a very small portion of the fat retrieved may survive the process, and this fat is what is used to add volume to your behind. If you’re a person with minimal excess fat, this procedure isn’t even viable for you.
How Long Does the Fat Transfer or BBL Last?
Even patients that do have excess fat available, and have transferred fat from other areas to the buttocks, WILL IT LAST? The short answer is; no it will not last. When considering a fat transfer, you should be aware that many patients who undergo the procedure can reabsorb some or all of the fat that transfers into their bodies, therefore losing the full effects of their surgery. The disappearance of the fat can occur completely or almost completely after a few months, or possibly even sooner. If this happens, you can do the procedure again. Do you really want to go through and pay for that again for the outcome to be similar?
How Risky is BBL Compared to Other Cosmetic Surgeries?
Not only can the results completely disappear, but there are serious problems that can occur. According to a recent report from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Brazilian Butt Lift, (BBL) is one of the most dangerous cosmetic procedures out there.
“There are risks with any surgical procedure. But BBL patients have an alarming mortality rate: As many as 1 in 3,000 people who undergo the procedure die, or 0.033 percent, compared with 0.002 percent for all office-based cosmetic procedures. BBL is raising concerns because of how the deaths are occurring. Fat that’s injected too deep can enter your circulatory system, possibly leading to a pulmonary embolism.”
What are Your Options?
Known as the “D.C. Butt Doctor,” Dr. Shlomo Widder is a board-certified Plastic Surgeon who has years of training and experience with performing butt lifts and augmentation. At Widder Cosmetic and Plastic Surgery Center in Vienna, VA, we understand how frustrating it can be to achieve tighter, perkier buttocks through diet and exercise alone; no matter how vigorous the routine. Butt lifts and Butt Augmentations can help patients achieve a more “attractive” appearance when exercise has not provided ideal results.
Dr. Widder DOES NOT perform fat injection to the butt (BBL) because unlike implants, the fat disappears completely or almost completely after a few months, or possibly even sooner. Think about it this way: Breast implants are the number one cosmetic surgery procedure in the US. If fat injections were consistent and reliable, most women would have preferred it for breast implants.
Lift procedures are often performed for people who lose lots of weight and have excess skin that appears saggy. In the butt lift, excess skin is removed from the buttock area to tighten and tone the butt.
The results of a butt lift are permanent; however, the natural aging process will eventually cause some sagging to occur. Any change in weight may also alter the results of the procedure.
If you want to enhance your booty, Butt Implants are your only good option! The implants are placed underneath the gluteal muscle fascia and positioned to enhance the shape and size of your butt.
